Media Bias at "The Today Show"?

I just witnessed media bias.

I'm sitting in my hotel room in Los Angeles watching "The Today Show" and Matt Lauer is interviewing Democratic Congressman Carl Levin and Republican Susan Collins about the Goldman Sachs hearings on Capitol Hill. In the opening show tease before the interview, Lauer says they're going to ask Levin about using the "S" word so often during the hearing. Guess what? Lauer never asked him one question about it. It never came up. Let's put aside the fact that using that word repeatedly has no place on public television. The fact of the matter is that Lauer just entirely blew that part of the story off.

It gets worse.

The media bias went into overdrive when Lauer then grilled the Republican Collins about why she and her GOP counterparts were holding up open debate on the financial reform bill. It's a legitimate question but he asked her the question three different times in three different ways! Then he called the GOP tactics schizophrenic and asked Carl Levin if he agreed with that assessment. Incoming softball! Levin hits it out of the park. Unbelievable. It's no wonder people are getting tired of the "old media" and looking around for other new media options.

Look, I am NOT one of these guys who goes around bashing the liberal media everyday but when it hits you right in the face it's hard to ignore it.
