Jon Liechty: Dedicating His Land to the Lord
CBN.com - Jon Liechty is eighty-five and still goes to work bright and early every morning. He’s co-owner of the family business, Liechty Enterprises. It’s one of the biggest farming operations in the Great Plains. They grow wheat, corn, soybeans and sunflowers on their 17,000 acres in nine states.
He loves to share the secret of his success—his relationship with God. Jon recalls, “I took Him as my partner about 60 years ago and He’s always been with me all the way through. And He’s a great God.”
When Jon and his wife, Fern, started farming they had 480 acres. Before their first crop even came in—he prayed. Jon states, “I said Lord, I need help on this. And I would like to have you help me in this farming venture. And I made a commitment to the Lord that I’d give him 20% of whatever profits I could make.”
Their business grew and so did their giving. He remembers, “We started out with 20% and we’ve grown that to 30-40, sometimes 50% some years. I think the Lord’s put us in the right places and helped us to grow.”
He speaks from experience when he encourages others to make giving a priority, “You can’t out give the Lord.”
Being obedient to God's truth made an incredible difference forJon. He made himself available for God's love to flow through him to others, and he is reaping a blessing himself as well.
