A Home for Ling Ling
CBN.com Eight-month old Ling Ling is a beautiful little girl with a loving family. Her mother dotes on her and enjoys singing her to sleep.
But life was not always so easy for Ling Ling. While only a few days old, she was abandoned outside an orphanage in a rural village near Beijing.
The orphanage director recalls, “I got up early that morning and as soon as I opened the gate, I saw a box sitting there. I knew another child had been abandoned.”
The baby’s condition was even more serious than she realized.
“At first we didn’t know there was a problem. She was a beautiful little girl. But after a short time, we discovered she had no rectum.”
Ling Ling was in desperate need of an anoplasty operation, a highly specialized operation difficult to come by in this remote village. But the orphanage had no money to pay for such an expensive procedure.
“We thought at the time that the only thing we could do was feed her and look after her day-to-day needs. But we knew if she did not undergo the surgery she would die.”
There seemed to be no hope for Ling Ling’s long term survival… until God sent a miracle.
The director of the orphanage had heard about Operation Blessing’s medical work in Beijing. Operation Blessing was quick to respond when called on for help.
Within a short time, a surgeon in Beijing performed the emergency surgery that saved Ling Ling’s life.
"The surgery went very well,” says Dr. Wang. “It will enable her to have the life of a normal, healthy child.”
Ling Ling’s next hurdle? To find a family to love. The orphanage director knew of a local family with two boys. Would they want a little girl too? The answer was yes…
“She is doing very well here and brings us a lot of joy,” says the foster mother. “We spend a lot of time together.”
“As soon as I finish my work I just want to go home to hold Ling Ling,” says the foster father.
It’s all part of the miracle that you make possible by your gifts to CBN and Operation Blessing.
“We want to express our indescribable gratitude to the people who helped. You have given her life,” says the orphanage director.
