Health Care Watch

I know you've heard this before, but guess what? Tomorrow is a BIG DAY in the world of health care reform.

Remember that "summit" of sorts President Obama had last Thursday with Congressional leaders? The one where they went back and forth and back and forth for seven hours talking about how they agreed on so much, but how they don't have a solid, bipartisan plan?

Yes, that summit.

Well, following that, today POTUS sent a letter to Senators Reid and McConnell, House Speaker Pelosi, and Minority Leader Boehner saying there are four Republican ideas he's exploring including in his re-vamped proposal. All four ideas are thing that came up in the Blair House Summit. They are:

1.  Random undercover investigations of health care providers to look for fraud.

2.  Including $50 million in government pilot programs to come up with alternatives to resolve medical malpractice disputes.

3.  Increasing doctor reimbursement for Medicare and Medicaid.

4.  Expanding health savings accounts.

I'm working on getting reaction from the GOP over whether they see this as true bipartisanship, or lip service. Standby for an update when I hear something back.
