First Assembly of God King's Cathedral
CBN.com First Assembly of God King’s Cathedral has a vision not only to reach the state of Hawaii for Christ, but the entire Pacific Rim. With 15 churches all over Hawaii, Alaska and California, they are well on their way. As Pastor James Marocco explains, "We don’t want to be just a congregation where people just come and observe. We want people fully engaged and fulfilling their ministry."
In 1995 the church experienced a mighty revival.
"Out of that inundation of the Spirit of God there was a great joy that erupted, joyous praise. People would come into the church and experience joyous praise -- the tangible presence of God," Marocco explains. "The end result was an interesting thing. I found people open to wanting to serve, whereas before they would tend to take a back seat. There was an openness for wanting to do something."
This dynamic move of God has changed many lives. In fact, residents now refer to Maui as "Revival Island."
Thomas is one such changed life. For 25 years, he grew and sold marijuana. Then everything changed. "One morning I turned on the television and saw Pastor Marocco pointing to me saying, 'God loves you! He’s got a plan for your life.' And that was the start of it," says Thomas. "The moment I walked into this place, I could feel the power of God -- the people had a genuine love."
Changed lives like Thomas’ encourage Marocco to continue reaching out to every person on the Pacific Rim.
"We believe that if somebody comes, they can experience the power of God," says Marocco. "They can be saved. They can be dramatically changed. In one moment’s time in God’s presence, it's all over. God has done something."
