Direct Mideast Peace Talks Scheduled for September
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton just announced direct talks are planned for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Washington on September 2nd.
The direct talks will be held at the State Department. Clinton expects the talks can be completed in a year's time.
President Obama has also invited Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak and King Abdullah of Jordan, to the talks. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who has played a large role in peace talks, will participate as well.
Special Envoy to the Middle East, Former Senator George Mitchell said the talks will be approached with "patience, perserverance and determinatin."
