Conference Hopes to Initiate a Breakthrough Among Muslims
The Alliance for Missions Advancement (AFMA) in partnership with AIMS, CBN, and Regent University presents “Breakthrough Among Muslims,” an unreached peoples consultation at Regent University in Virginia Beach, March 14-17, 2005.
This Unreached Peoples Consultation will include general sessions and strategy sessions that will provide denominations, churches, mission agencies, and humanitarian organizations with practical models to implement on the mission field. During the 2004 consultation, participants formed networks to develop clean water initiatives and new businesses in Africa. Others formed strategic prayer groups around countries like China.
This year, AFMA anticipates an even greater consultation with a clear focus on the reaching the Muslim world. The consultation will feature speakers who have ministered successfully in Muslim countries throughout Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
Speakers include:
Rev. Irvin Rutherford is the Founder and Director of Global Ministry Teams (GMT). For thirty years, Irvin Rutherford has trained workers for the mission field. He founded Asian Ministry Teams (now GMT) to partner with local indigenous churches throughout Asia.
Rev. Daniel Hanafi is the Vice President of WorldHarvest. Established in 1989, World Harvest focuses on various projects targeting the Muslim nation of Indonesia - including an Adopt-a-Child program, Community Development projects, church planting, and media ministries. Rev. Hanafi also pastors five Indonesian churches in southern California.
Ben Edwards is the Vice President of CBN's International Ministries. As the evangelistic outreach arms of CBN, CBN's international centers partner with media organizations around the world to disseminate the Gospel of Jesus Christ through television, radio, and other mass media in many nations including the Muslim world.
Kevin Greeson is the author of The Camel Training Manual. A former IMB missionary, Kevin Greeson has developed a passion for Bengali Muslims and Hindus. His book illustrates how thousands of Muslims have turned to Christ through a single church planting movement. Greeson also examines how Christians can minister effectively and impact entire Muslim communities for Christ.
Dr. Miriam Adeney is the author of Daughters of Islam: Building Bridges with Muslim Women. Miriam has a Ph.D. in anthropology and is currently an associate professor of global and urban ministries at Seattle Pacific University. In her book, Adeney shares stories of Muslim women who turned to Jesus Christ despite extreme resistance in their Islamic communities. Through these stories, she hopes to illustrate how Christians can develop meaningful relationships with Muslim women around the world.
Dr. Howard Foltz is the Founder and President of Accelerating International Mission Strategies (AIMS). Since 1986, AIMS has mobilized, trained, and equipped churches to take the Gospel to the world’s least reached people groups. Dr. Howard Foltz is also the Professor of Missiology at Regent University.
“Ben Lamas” has served as a church planter and missionary on the front lines in several Muslim nations throughout the world.
