Cash for Caulkers?

Everyone remembers the Cash for Clunkers craziness from last summer, right? Now, here we go again! (or do we?)

Today in Savannah, Ga., POTUS (I'll use this regularly to refer to the President of the United States) will announce details of a federal rebate plan for consumers.

Here's the deal: You'll be eligible for between $1,000 and $1,500 in rebates (on-the-spot!) for certain things you buy to improve your home to make it more energy effecient. Things like insulation, water heaters, or other equipment will be eligible.

Want more? Rebates of up to $3,000 will be available if you get a "home energy audit" and then make changes needed to produce an energy savings of up to 20 percent.

The White House's goal?  To create jobs, reduce energy consumption and save money for consumers.

So... maybe "Cash for Caulkers" isn't quite right... but hey, it's catchy, no?  I don't know my construction... do you use caulk to install installation? I'll have to e-mail my Dad.
