She Never Stopped Praying—and God Surprised Her!

“I had hope in my heart,” Lacey Blue said. “I had the Word of God. I had the promise, and I wanted this child so badly. That was being threatened by hearing this news of you need to have surgery.”

“When I was growing up, I always knew I wanted a family,” Lacey said. “I just always imagined my future as a wife and a mom. When I was 12 years old, I started developing ovarian cysts, and they were quite painful and there were a lot of them. The surgeries did take a toll, not only physically, but emotionally. I remember hearing at times that potentially children could be an issue for me if these kinds of hormonal issues continued to happen.”

“I was excited to be married,” Lacey said. “I was excited to start this new life, excited to learn what the Lord had for my family. Once we decided we were ready to have children, things didn't happen quickly. We get to year one of trying and nothing had happened yet. Then I start to get concerned, and my doctor said, ‘Okay, after a year of trying, if nothing's happening, we need to start doing some tests.’”

“It created this foundation in me of, ‘No, what does the Word of God say?’ I did a lot of research on women in the Bible that were barren and not having children,” Lacey said. “I saw the Lord's impending answer, which was, ‘Yes.’ And He brought the child. He brought the desires of their heart. So, that helped me stay anchored.”

“It was a long process,” Lacey said. “Not knowing from month to month, year to year. I felt like time was against me. I was getting older. Both of us were getting older. My own emotions attacked my faith. I went inward and I said, ‘What is wrong with you? Why can't you believe God? You pray for other people and they see miracles, why can't you receive your own miracle?’ I doubled down with the Lord and just spent time imagining her and dreaming with Him about her. We even prepared her nursery. That's where my faith was. I thought, ‘Well, gosh, preparation is all over scripture, so I'm going to prepare a place for her.’ I didn't rule out having a boy, but when I would dream about my baby, it was a girl.”

“After we'd been trying to have a baby for six years, I'd gone to the doctor for a regular checkup and he said, ‘I found something. I think it's a polyp, and you need to have this removed.’ And the reason that hit me so hard is because my mind immediately went to all of those years, in my adolescent years, where I had surgery, after surgery, after surgery,” Lacey said. “It was just an emotional letdown.”

“Sitting in my car, I just start sobbing,” Lacey said. “I told the Lord, ‘I can't do this anymore, I’m exhausted.’ This question just came up in my heart, and the question was, ‘Lacey, what do you really believe?’ ‘Lord, I believe you. I believe this is not too big for you. I believe I will have a baby. I believe you can heal me of this, so I don't have to have surgery.’ That's when I felt like, ‘Okay, I'm settled.’ I had such peace in my heart.”

“And then about eight weeks I guess, we were celebrating our wedding anniversary,” Lacey said. “I just had the inkling to take a pregnancy test, but I didn't feel pressure this time. I got the confirmation. Instantly tears, instantly just bawling, the emotion of the moment. I went and I found my husband, and you could tell he was a little bit alarmed because he sees me sobbing and it's our anniversary. I told him, I gave him the news. He said, ‘You’re pregnant!’ I said, ‘I’m pregnant!’ This was such a mountain in my life, and the mountain moved. And then the first time I held her it was just, ‘Praise God, this is so real.’”

“Her name is Emily Grace,” Lacey said. “That name means admiring the grace of God. I love that we get to do life together every day. And I tell the Lord, ‘Thank you for healing me just so we could know her.’ She was wanted so much that she was prayed for, and God heard that, and he honored that. And I tell her, ‘You are a fulfillment of His promise.’”

“If you want a child, don't give up on that child,” Lacey said. “Let Jesus be the anchor of your faith because He wants you well, and He wants to give you the child that you long for. Don't give up because He's not going to give up on you.”
