“I was afraid to be alone 'cause I didn't want that pain to hit again” Tammi McAfee recalls her thoughts after emergency surgery.  “And then my brain to start going off and think, ‘oh, you're gonna have to go through this all over again. It's gonna hit you again. It's just gonna happen again’.” Tammi was trying not to live in fear, however a recent diagnosis of diverticulitis -- infected pockets in the colon that can cause severe pain -- was bringing back terrible memories. Just three months earlier she’d woken up with severe stomach pain. She recalls that morning, “I felt a twist and then it started getting really sharp. It felt like I was gonna burst from the inside out. It was just painful. Very, very painful.” Her husband, Ron, called 911 and prayed for the pain to end. Ron recalls what Tammi was going through, “A lot of pain, vomiting, a lot of discomfort. When you see your spouse hurting, you hurt too. And I  was doing everything I could to help her.”

At the ER, doctors discovered Tammi had a bowel obstruction and performed emergency laparoscopic surgery. After the surgery Tammi was sore yet out of pain. Now, fear began creeping into her thoughts… what if it happened again. Tammi recalls, “I was afraid to eat, to be honest. I was afraid to eat. When you have that physical manifestation of that pain, it's scary.” For the next few months Tammi tried to trust God. Then, at her surgical follow-up visit on January 20, 2025, her doctor warned her the obstruction could happen again. Tammi says, “You kind of get a little afraid when they say, ‘be careful of these feelings again. Any type of symptoms that come back, you can get this again’. When the enemy would try and put those thoughts in my head, I would get in fight mode and I would get in my word. I would put on my praise music. And I would pray.” Ron agrees, “That's our only shield for the enemy to stop attacking, is to pray. Cause God is in control and we have to let Him be in control.”

The prayers and worship music helped Tammi’s spirit yet anytime she felt a little pain, the fear and uncertainty returned. Then, a week later on January 27, Tammi, Ron, and Tammi’s brother Don sat down to watch The 700 Club. While listening to Gordon pray, they got a surprise when they heard Gordon say, “There’s a woman, your name is Tammi. You suffer with a blockage in your intestines and God is healing that. He’s unwinding all of it. You just felt it move.” Tammi was surprised, “And I just went, ‘oh my God, he's talking about me. That's me’.” Then Gordon continued to pray,  “In the name of Jesus, be healed from it and may it never return again. May you never hear again, diverticulitis. That it would never be spoken over you ever again.” Ron recalls,  “When he said her name and exactly what the symptoms were, our jaws just dropped. Whoa. That's confirmation from the Lord that He's doing what He said He was gonna do, and that was heal her.” Tammi felt God’s love, “He just went deep into my soul and said, this is for you little one. This is for you. You don't have to be afraid ever again. And I haven't been. I haven't had any pain since that word of knowledge. I have not had any pain. I've had no symptoms.” Ron agrees, “It was just love from our Father in Heaven.”

At her next doctor’s appointment Tammi was told she was doing well and to call if she had any symptoms and to date she’s had no more issues. Tammi says, “I don't get afraid. I don't have that twisting feeling. I don't have that, that bursting sensation. Cause I conquered that pain and I conquered that, those symptoms. And I conquered the enemy, trying to put that fear into my head. It was amazing feeling the freedom of the Lord that way. He's amazing.” She and Ron thank God for his love and care believing god is faithful to do what he says. Ron says, “When you see those miracles manifest right there on the spot, it clearly helps you grow. Have faith that the Father is there for you. He will step in and heal what you need in healing. He will.” Tammi adds, “You don't have to be sad, you don't have to be scared, you don't have to go through the pain.  He's a loving God. He loves you so much. You can trust him. He's faithful.”
