An Arm Repaired and A Heart Full of Joy
Alice loves going to school, but for years, she never went consistently. She was in constant pain due to an untreated broken arm.
“The day it happened, I was trying to catch up with my sister, who left on a motorbike to get her hair done. As I ran, there was a hole covered in leaves. I fell into it and hurt my arm. It was very painful. I was taken to a nearby clinic, but they didn’t help me.”
When she finally got x-rays and treatment at a different hospital, Alice’s arm started to heal.
“A few days later, a local doctor, who was drunk, told me not to use the bandage and to remove it.”
Not knowing any better, the family followed his advice, and that led to years of pain for Alice.
“All I was given were weak pain killers, which didn’t help. Sleeping was difficult, especially when it was cold. I was often sent home from school, because of the pain. I was home most of the time.”
Alice didn’t like being home while her friends were at school, but there wasn’t anything she or her parents could do about it.
“My parents couldn’t afford another visit to the hospital. My mom massaged my arm with hot saltwater to ease the pain, but it didn’t do much. I prayed all the time for God to help me.
When someone at the school found out what happened to Alice’s arm, she contacted Operation Blessing. Operation Blessing helped Alice get the medical attention she needed and paid for her orthopedic surgery. Alice healed quickly, and the pain was finally gone.
“God remembered me and I was healed. I dream of becoming a doctor, so I can help alleviate people’s suffering. Now, when I come home from school, I help my mom with doing the laundry and sweeping. I can even pick up my little brother, which I couldn’t do before.”
“Even though you never met me, I am happy to know that you care about me. Thank you, Operation Blessing, for helping me get well.”
