New Vision, New Life

Swana said, “Going blind has been very hard. It came on gradually. Now nothing is clear. Everything is very blurry and dark. I used to be able to do everything by myself. Now, all I can do is eat when food is given to me.”

Swana has cataracts in both of his eyes. When we visited him and his family, he told us how frustrating losing his sight has been.

“I can't even do an easy job. What can I do? I am just a blind man now,” said Swana. “I used to work in my garden and do all the chores outside. I want to take care of things, but I can’t do anything.”

CBN Reporter, Dan Reany, explained, “Swana has walked this path thousands of times, but these days, his wife says he falls often, and just in his day-to-day life he needs help with everything.

Swana said, “I know I have become a burden to my wife. Everything I used to do now must be done by her. It’s painful to me.”

Teaming up with Grace Vision, Operation Blessing paid for ten cataract surgeries in this area. Swana’s was one of them.

With excitement, Swana said, “I can see now! I am very happy! I can see all around. When I came home, I noticed new houses around the fields. I asked, ‘Whose houses are those?’ I do things on my own now that I can see! I walk everywhere and make sure things are in order. I do my own work around the house. I have Spinach planted right there, and cabbage too. Thank you so much for my surgery! You gave me my life back.”
