Brown Water Made Her Children Sick

Rosa is a single parent raising four children in Chiapas, Mexico. Every day they face small battles that put their health at risk; the biggest one is having clean water to drink.  “The walk back from the open pit well is the hardest,” Rosa told us. “The buckets are heavy as the sun beats down on us. Sometimes there is no water at all. So, we wait. And sometimes is brown with mud.”
 
Rosa boils and treats the water. She does everything she can to make it safe. But the kids keep getting sick anyway. “The water here is not clean. It smells bad,” said Jorge, Rosa’s son. 

“When my children get sick, it rips my heart out,” added the desperate mother. “They get stomachaches and diarrhea. I can’t afford medicine, so I look for healing plants and I pray. I pray to God a lot!”  

Then, thanks to YOU, Operation Blessing came to Rosa’s community and installed a water collection and purification  system.  We also built her shower, sink and a bathroom! 

“Now that we have a water tank, I don’t have haul buckets anymore,” said Rosa. “There is PLENTY of water for our needs. I can now get the housework done and look after my children knowing they’re safe.”

Today, Rosa and seventeen other families in her community have plenty of safe water to drink—thanks to the people who support Operation Blessing.  

 “Now I can drink a LOT of water,” said a smiling Jorge. “It is like a little miracle. Thank you!”

 “Thank you so much to everyone who gave us this clean water,” Rosa concluded. “I can’t thank you enough!”
