Taking the Worry Out of Your Life

In her 90’s CBN Partner Ramona Alexander fully embraces technology.  She especially loves to text scriptures, devotionals, and things she sees on the 700 Club.

She explains, “I'll take a picture of prayer or Gordon or Ashley is saying a prayer, and sometimes I'll text it to seven or eight people.”

The 700 Club has been a part of her life for decades.  It was actually Pat Roberston that helped her take her faith to a new level.

“He had a voice that just pulled you in, and he knew Jesus. And he shared it.  And I wanted that too,” she recalls.  “He said, ‘The Bible is for correction and learning.’  It just got me starting to read the Bible, and I read it for 10 years from cover to cover.”  She continues emotionally, “It just changed me and gave me a passion for loving others, for helping others.”

Ramona and her late husband Larry had five children, and for a while they worried about how they’d pay basic bills.  Still, she decided to put God first and tithe.

She remembers, “Pat Robertson, he used to teach on tithing and saying that the Lord wanted us to bless him with his first fruits, and that He would multiply everything for us.  And I said, ‘Okay, I’ll write a check: 10% of my gross.’”

Three weeks after starting to tithe, she got an unexpected blessing in the mail.

“There was a thing in there from an insurance company,” she shares.  “It was a $200 check, and I said, ‘Oh gosh, Larry, this is because I'm tithing.’”

Soon, they became CBN partners.

Ramona exclaims, “The children, the operations on their mouths and their little legs and their hearts, and the water, oh, the water that they provide for these people that have to drink out of streams that are so filthy, and they get so sick.  How could I not give?”  She adds, “You know, all these years that we've been tithing, the Lord's always provided for us. It’s been easier.  And a person we worked for always gave us a bonus at Christmas, a big thousand dollars.  We believed that was all from the Lord.”

Things like this happened often, like when Ramona’s best friend left her an inheritance of $5,000, and Larry’s best friend did the same.  They retired comfortably, and even on a fixed income were able to buy a new home.  After Larry died, Ramona had a few months of financial uncertainty, yet she continued to tithe and even increased her pledge to CBN.

“I get excited every month so I can tithe the first thing and send my check to 700 Club,” she explains.  “They use your money where it's needed: with the California fires, oh my goodness. I called everybody, ‘Do you see Operation Blessing trucks down there?  They're everywhere.’  They're just, they're always there.”

Ramona tells everyone that putting God first and giving unlocks a lifetime of blessings.

She concludes, “It's a lot of fun to give.  It helps you have a balanced life.  I really trust CBN because I've seen them.  They prove to me that they do what they say they're going to do with our money.  If you can't give of your first fruits, you're not going to do very well. It's the only way that you can make it through life without worries.”
