THE AVATAR

In his tenth and latest book, The Avatar, Jonathan Cahn explains what he believes is behind much that is taking place in our nation today.  "America stands at a dangerous moment in history as ancient forces are seeking to take dominion and control of our future."  He exposes how these ancient forces have returned to the world in modern form and are moving in secret behind major cultural and political events—even the recent American presidential election.  Some of the mysteries he reveals are:

• The spiritual collapse of empires which is now mirrored by America's path

• Donald Trump’s rise, fall and return—tied to an ancient ruler

• The truth behind the assassination attempt of Trump and what it actually signaled

• The identity of a powerful American figure whose life reflects an ancient, dangerous deity and what it means if this person rises to power

• What’s at stake for the future of the nation and how Americans should respond
“There are powerful forces at work in society today, and we must open our eyes to them,” Cahn states. “The avatars are in our culture and in our nation. They are affecting the world around us and vying for its future—posing a clear and present danger to the world.”

WHO AND WHAT ARE THE AVATARS?

Cahn defines an avatar as a manifestation of a false god, spirit, or ideology that takes form in history and culture.  He describes them as embodiments of ancient pagan deities, i.e. god-kings and goddess-queens, and powers that return in new guises to shape societies.  “The avatar could manifest in the form of another god, goddess, or supernatural being. “These ancient forces are being mapped onto things like political ideologies, cultural trends, and world leaders,” Cahn explains, “and are active agents in shaping events behind the scenes.  In the Greek New Testament, they are identified as the daemonia – from which we get the world demon,” he says, adding that they are entities with volition and consciousness – spirits.  “Is it possible that the spirits, the entities, the gods have entered the political realm, impelled campaigns, chosen candidates, and altered elections?”

AN ANCIENT CONNECTION TO DONALD TRUMP

Cahn points readers to 2 Kings 9 of the Old Testament to see the one anointed to be king over Israel.  “Thousands of years after his rising, commentators are still divided over his motives, his methods, his ways, and his legacy.  He was a man of contradiction and paradox.  His name was Jehu,” Cahn says.  “Jehu was the ancient biblical prototype for a modern leader, a man likewise of contradiction and paradox, and one who invoked and was surrounded by controversy.  The world would know him as Donald Trump.”  Cahn adds that both men were thought to be wild, warriors, bent on destroying what they saw as evil, or in Trump’s parlance, “draining
the swamp.”  Cahn draws a number of parallels between the two leaders, one being the June 27, 2024 presidential debate.  “When Joram came face-to-face with Jehu, he came unprepared.  When the American Joram, Joe Biden, came face-to-face with the American Jehu, Trump, he too came unprepared.  Jehu dealt a death blow to Joram’s kingship.  Trump dealt a mortal blow to Biden’s presidency.”

Cahn also sees a parallel in the election victories and losses of Donald Trump.  In the 2016 and 2024 elections, Trump came as an outsider to the White House, “a disruptor of the establishment and overturner of the status quo.”  These elections matched the ancient dynamics of Jehu’s rise to the throne, Cahn points out, and resulted in victories.  In 2020, Trump ran as the incumbent, facing no adversary, which did not match the Jehu dynamic, and was defeated.

Another connection Cahn makes relates to purpose; he says both Jehu and Trump have been used as instruments of judgment.  “Jehu was a hammer, an axe, a battering ram.  It is no accident that one of his first recorded acts upon entering the nation’s capital was the pulling down of Baal’s temple.”  Trump, too, has been a vessel of judgment.  “His rising brought reckonings and judgments to the vessels and institutions at war against the ways of God.  And yet it was more than that.  His rising was assigned to a fallen culture, nation, and civilization under the judgment of God.”

BEHIND THE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT

“What happened that day in Butler, Pennsylvania, would leave a lasting mark on Trump’s thoughts and outlook.  In its aftermath, he would speak of God and in more personal terms than he had ever before done,” Cahn notes.  He then describes the priestly anointing found in the Old Testament, where the right ear, right thumb, and right big toe of the priest was to be consecrated with blood.  “The bullet intended to take Donald Trump’s life instead drew blood from his ear.  After being grazed by the bullet, Trump raised his hand to touch his bloodied ear.  And so, he specifically lifted up the thumb of his right hand to touch the blood of his right ear.”  Secret Service members then forced him to sit on the floor, and his shoes were somehow removed, Cahn learned.  “Then, when he was able, he rose to his feet, standing on the same spot on which he had been pushed down.”  The three areas of Trump’s body stained that day by his own blood mirrored the anointing of a priest and signaled his victory, Cahn explains.

THE AVATAR

Cahn believes there is one particular avatar currently on the American political scene who poses great danger.  This person’s rise to the heights of American political power was unlikely, as a previous run for high office quickly evaporated due to diminishing support and funding.  He says this person was born on the day of a Hindu god or goddess, whose name the person bears, and he or she has lived in the image of an ancient deity ever since, serving as an “instrument of the gods and their agenda.”  That agenda, he says, is the danger.  The ancient deity represents the altering of sexuality, marriage, and gender, which ideologies have been advancing throughout the American culture.

WHAT WE MUST DO

As the biblical Jehu’s reign provided a window for both repentance and judgment; so does that of President Trump, Cahn believes.  “The rise and return of the American Jehu constitutes a window,” he says; an opportunity for restoration as well as a warning of the danger that lies ahead if the window is missed.  “While we must pray that the American Jehu and those of his house will prove greater than his ancient prototype – and will seek, above all things to serve the will and purposes of Him who called them.  But our hope must never rest in any vessel, even vessels of God, but only in God Himself.  If we change the government but not a people, the unchanged people will change the government back,” Cahn cautions.  The answer, he says, is not political, economic, or societal, but spiritual.  “It can only be answered by a societal, cultural, and civilizational return, awakening, and revival.”

What, then, must we do?  “We must pray for revival as never before, fervently, wholeheartedly, and unceasingly,” Cahn urges emphatically.  “We must boldly spread the word of salvation, the good news of Messiah, to all who will hear it, that revival may come.  Until that day, stand strong for God and against the gods, steadfast, unfaltering, and immovable, and no matter what the future may bring, live your life in such a way that it will, in glory or reproach, in praise or persecution, in the light of day or the darkness of night, boldly declare that God alone is God.”
