“Now I’m Sure There Is a God!”

Mr. Yu worked early in the morning until late at night seven days a week.  He had one goal: to keep his son alive.  Yixun was born with two holes in his heart.

“He always got colds.  He coughed and had fevers,” recounts Mr. Yu.  “When I looked at how skinny Yixun was, I worried about how the heart disease would affect his body.”

“She asked for a divorce because she couldn't handle taking care of a sick baby every day and being so poor.  My world collapsed,” confesses Mr. Yu.  “Yixun’s illness was already hard enough.  The loss of my wife made it even harder.”

Since he was a single dad, he had to bring Yixun to work with him.  Meanwhile, the holes in Yixun’s heart got bigger.  He struggled to breathe and landed in the hospital in a coma.

“His face was pale, and his lips were purple. His body was covered with sweat, and he ended up in ICU,” remembers Mr. Yu.  “The doctor told me he was seriously ill.  As the holes got bigger, they were keeping his blood from flowing properly, so he had pulmonary hypertension and pneumonia.”

The doctor said Yixun needed surgery, yet as hard as Mr. Yu worked, he couldn’t afford it, and Yixun only got worse.  By two, he still couldn’t walk like other kids his age.

“He got tired easily and gasped for air.  His mouth was black, and his lips were always bleeding,” Mr. Yu shares.  “Every day I was afraid I would lose him.   How could I live without him?  I felt like there wasn’t any hope for us.  We seemed abandoned by the world.  Sometimes I thought to myself, ‘Is there is a God, and if so, will He help me?’  I wished He would send us an angel.” 

A couple weeks later, Mr. Yu was at a health clinic, where he heard about Operation Blessing and how we help poor children.

“It was a miracle,” exclaims Mr. Yu.  “It gave my dark life hope.  My son would be saved.  I thought to myself at that moment, ‘Maybe God does exist.’”
Thanks to you, Yixun got the heart surgery he needed.

“My son is healed.  He’s gained weight and has grown taller.  He likes to play and always runs ahead of me.  He never gets tired.  He has inexhaustible strength,” exclaims Mr. Yu.  “I’m grateful to the Operation Blessing donors.  Now I want to go to church, and I'm sure there is a God because He listens to the cries of the poor.”
