Heart Failure, Coma… Then a Miracle!

Hui was always a happy little girl with a big imagination.

“She used to point to the clouds and ask, ‘Dad, is that cotton candy?  I’m going to go pick some for you to eat,’ Mr. Yang shares.  “She’d clap her hands and laugh.”

Then a bad cough landed her in the hospital, and the Yangs found out that she had several holes in her heart.  As Hui got older, she got weaker, and the holes got bigger.  One almost tripled in size.

“She had to squat down to catch her breath when she tried to run.  I was afraid and didn't know what to do,” admits Mr. Yang.

Mrs. Yang adds, “I went online and learned that it was dangerous if she cried too much.  She could even stop breathing, so we were very cautious.”

As time went on, Hui’s playful personality faded away.

“Her smile disappeared.  Even when I made funny faces, she barely laughed,” recalls Mr. Yang.  “Her heart beat so fast that it seemed like it was going to burst out of her chest.  Sometimes her lips turned purple.  It was hard as a parent to see this and not have the power to do anything.”

Mrs. Yang painfully remembers, “When she got fevers, her little body was a small stove; it was scalding hot wherever I touched.  I wished I could take her pain myself.”

Hui needed surgery.  Mr. Yang got a second job to try to save money, yet it wasn’t enough.  Soon, Hui got pneumonia and fell into a coma.

“Her face was pale. No matter how much my wife and I shouted or shook her, Hui didn’t respond.  Her little body was limp,” says Mr. Yang.

“It was a nightmare that wouldn’t end.  Every time she moaned, it was like a hammer hitting my heart,” Mrs. Yang candidly reveals.

Then the Yangs heard about Operation Blessing, and you helped Hui get heart surgery.

“The operation completely changed her.  Now she’s healthy and happy every day,” declares Mrs. Yang.

“She’s full of energy.  She doesn’t cry like she used to.  Now, she laughs all the time,” Mr. Yang adds.  “I sincerely thank every Operation Blessing donor.  Because we’re poor, our family was often ignored and forgotten but your selflessness gave our family hope.  And when we learned this was all from God, we were curious about why He’d help us ordinary people and wanted to learn more about Him.”

Mrs. Yang concludes, “We know that every penny it cost to get Hui surgery was the result of your hard work.  We will always remember this kindness.  It’s the most precious gift in our life.”
