Believing for What Seems Impossible
Xiangru never felt like he fit-in with his classmates because he was born with a bad heart.
He explains, “When I tried to play ball, I couldn't catch my breath. So, none of the kids wanted to play with me. They said my heart disease was contagious and that everyone should stay away from me.”
Mr. Wang says, Xiangru’s heart took up 70% of his chest cavity, and the artery in his heart was blocked so his blood couldn’t flow correctly. It went back into his heart.”
Xiangru got so weak that walking a short distance tired him out. And ultimately, he started coughing up blood.
“He gasped for breath. His whole body turned blue and purple, and his lips were black,” recounts Mr. Wang. The doctor said the only way to get better was surgery. He was just a child.”
The Wangs are poor farmers, so Mr. Wang got a second job to save money for surgery. Meanwhile, he and his wife prayed for help.
“Years ago someone at the hospital shared the gospel with us, and that’s when we first believed in the Lord,” shares Mrs. Wang.
Her husband adds, “I prayed every day, ‘Loving Father God, I put this child in your hands.’”
Xiangru also became a Christian and began reading the Bible.
“I love the story of Peter walking on the water,” says Xiangru. “I wanted to have the same kind of faith and trust God through the waves of my heart disease. One time when I was praying, I felt electricity go through my body, and I knew God would help me.”
Then a doctor introduced the family to Operation Blessing, and thanks to your help, Xiangru got heart surgery.
His mother declares, “This was the love of our Heavenly Father.”
His father adds, “Jesus Christ sent Operation Blessing to help us. Now Xiangru can exercise and play basketball, and he really loves it. He even helps me carry rice. He walks really fast, like 'Dad, look at me, I'm completely healed now.'”.
Xiangru concludes, “My classmates are surprised at how different I am. I told them it was Jesus who helped me. Thank you to the kind people at Operation Blessing for giving me a new life. You saved me.”
