Two Vehicles Down During Deployment

Grace prays for her husband David, an active-duty marine, daily.  Especially when he’s deployed. Grace explains, “my faith is absolutely everything, especially during this time. It is the only thing I have to rely on.”

Grace handles the finances when David is gone.  On his most recently deployment, she thought she had it covered then both their vehicles broke down with David’s needing several hundred dollars in repairs.    

Grace says, “wow, I was not expecting to have to be facing this issue, especially right after he left.  I knew that things were going to be difficult right off the bat, but adding, as most of us know, adding car issues to the mix is definitely not something that we look forward to.”

When her pastor at Jacksonville Seventh Day Adventist near Camp Lejune heard about the couple’s vehicle issues he contacted Helping The Home Front.  Pastor Evan Buyaker invited Grace over to tell her Helping The Home Front was paying to fix David’s truck.  

Grace emotionally reacts, “sorry, wow! wow!  Sorry, I’m very happy.”

He also told Grace, CBN would be fixing her car too.

Grace says, “thank you.”

Smith’s Auto Service in Jacksonville, NC worked on both vehicles. When the owners heard about Helping The Home Front’s mission, they offered an additional discount.  Grace can now focus on getting through the deployment without financial stress.

Grace concludes, “I am so grateful to the CBN partners.  That is a very special thing for them to be willing to do that and to help others and just, I mean, to be able to lend a hand that way is, is amazing. It's, it's truly amazing."
