Helping Three Children Who Were Going Blind

Due to a genetic disorder, Alfa was almost blind from cataracts. So were her siblings, Mahera and Ibrahim. As their lives were filled with darkness, all three children needed almost constant care from their parents.

Their mother, Afreen, explained, “It was impossible to manage all three of them at once. I had to take care of all their little needs, and also help them with their studies and daily routine activities.”

Their dad, Tajuddin, said, “As a father, I felt completely helpless. I worked all day in the fields and came home to see my children struggling. I could not sleep peacefully at night.”

The children needed so much care their parents had to take them everywhere they went.

Alfa said, “I had a hard time studying, especially writing. I was not able to write properly and keep a straight line, and that bothered me a lot.”

Ibrahim said, “When I went out in the sun, my eyes watered so much it was hard to open them.”

When they took their children to a clinic, doctors said they all needed surgery.

Afreen said, “There was no way we could afford even one surgery, let alone three. So, we just came back home.”

Thanks to your support, Operation Blessing was able to help this family, and pay for cataract surgeries for all three children.

“Our children’s lives changed completely,” said Tajuddin. “They got home after surgery and started playing happily on their own, studying well, and just enjoying each other’s company.”

Ibrahim exclaimed, “I feel very happy. Now I can clearly see the chalk board at school. And I like to go outside to play.”

Alfa said, “I love playing outside, too.  I’m doing well in my school, and I can do all my homework on my own.”

Afreen said, “Today, I am a very proud and happy mother. I can see joy in my children. I want to thank everyone who helped us.”

Tajuddin added, “We did not have to pay for anything! We will always be grateful to Operation Blessing for your help in bringing happiness to our family.”
