A Mother's Answered Prayer

Neema and her son, Simon, are always together. Neema said, “Simon always helps me around the house. He is a happy and inquisitive boy.”

Simon said, “I like to help my mom in the garden. I love my mom, because she cooks for us, and she is even teaching me how to cook!”

After losing her husband, Neema did her best to care for her son, but she could hardly afford food, and couldn’t afford to send Simon to school.

Simon said, “I was so sad that I couldn’t go to school to learn with my friends. I prayed to God that I would be able to go to school again someday.”

Neema explained, “He had so many questions, and was always asking, ‘Why am I not going to school? Please. I want to go to school.’ I just told him to be patient. I often pray, until I have no tears left in me, for God to help us.”

When Neema reached out to a lady in her community, she connected her with Youth With a Mission Arusha, which is supported by CBN’s Orphan’s Promise. We started giving Neema food, and with our help, Simon is now back in school and has everything he needs to learn.

Simon exclaimed, “God answers prayer! You gave me school supplies, shoes, trousers, and a sweater. The first day I went to school, I was very happy. I love to read and write. It makes me feel happy. When I grow up, I want to be a teacher, so I can teach young people, too. I have many friends, and I love to play with them during breaktimes.”

Neema said, “I am so grateful to you for helping Simon go to school, and for the food you give to us as a family.”

Simon said, “Thank you so much for helping me, you’ve made my dreams come true. May God bless you!”
