Fleeing Their Country for a Safe Haven

Sergey and his wife, Ludmila, are Russians, who left their home country to keep their kids safe.

Ludmila explained, “As a mother, I wanted to protect my kids and give them a better future, but also make sure this transition wouldn’t traumatize them.”

Sergey said, “It was horrible watching this war escalate between people who speak the same language. We had no idea how things would develop, but we knew we had to leave.”

Because Sergey is Jewish, they decided to immigrate to Israel. When they got there, they faced some challenges.

Sergey said, “I had to drop down a few levels in my work, so the pay was not enough to build a new life. We hardly had any furniture and didn’t even have a washing machine. We wanted to make our kids’ living area comfortable, but we couldn’t afford it.”

Sergey found out about CBN Israel from Israeli relatives who we helped a few years ago. Thanks to CBN Israel donors, we made sure this family had the furniture and the washing machine they needed.

Ludmila said, “Your help was such a big deal for us. We felt a lot of uncertainty when we got here, but then CBN Israel came along and gave us hope that everything will work out.”

“Your help motivated us to keep going,” said Sergey. “We feel like we have a future in this country.”

We take the family food. And we spend time with Ludmila, Sergey, and their kids. We listen to their stories and let them know they’re not alone as they adapt to their new lives.

“CBN Israel helped us give our kids a good start in their new country,” said Sergey.

Thanks to the support of our partners, the children’s rooms are comfortable, and this family feels like they’ll be able to build new lives in Israel.

Sergey said, “Thank you for doing these good deeds. It is very touching to know there are people who care so much about families like ours.”
