A Children’s Home Struggling to Feed Its Children
After their parents died, Hnin (neen) and her sister, 7-year-old Phyu (few) went to live at a Christian Children’s Home on the Thai Myanmar border. They live there with 20 children and go to school with 170 others. “Here, we have food to eat every day! I learned to read and write. I love dancing with my friends. The pastor and his wife are like a father and mother to us,” said Hnin.
But the pastor and his wife struggled to meet all of the expenses for the home, and even to provide enough food for the live in children and for school lunches of the other kids. Hnin told us about the sacrifices they made to help them.
Our pastors and teachers used their own personal savings so we could eat vegetables every day and have meat twice a week. Even with that, there was never enough for the children to feel full after a meal.
Then thanks to you Operation Blessing’s children’s program, Orphan’s Promise, began supplying nutritious lunches for ALL of the students at the school. And we also provided other meals for Hnin, her sister, and the other 18 residents who live full time at the Children’s Home.
Then to help the staff prepare the food, Operation Blessing provided them with a new kitchen and an new water purification system so the kids have clean water to drink.
Now thanks to YOU, the school has regular support from Operation Blessing, and the children no longer go hungry. In fact they have been able to expand and help more vulnerable children and orphans.
“Now, 5 new children have come to live with us!” said Hnin. “Thank you to everyone who helped us. May God bless you!”
