“Give Your Baby Away!”

Baby Srey Net was born with a cleft lip. It made every feeding time for her parents scary because she constantly chokes.

To make things worse, relatives encouraged the family to give her away and let someone else raise her.  "We are poor, but I refused to give up my baby, even when relatives offered to raise her,” her mother told us.

“I knew I could provide a loving home for her, even with the cleft lip. I knew I had to be strong.”

Sreynet’s dad, however, struggled to accept his newborn daughter. “For weeks, I couldn't believe she was mine,” he said. “I was wrong…so wrong. Now I know that she is my precious baby girl.”

With five children to feed along with Srey Net's feeding challenges, the baby nearly died last year from malnutrition. “Sometimes all we have is watery rice to give her,” her mother reported.

Then the family found a Facebook post on Operation Blessing’s site in Cambodia. It offered free surgery for children with cleft lips.  Then, thanks to YOU, we paid for Srey Net to receive the operation she needed to repair her cleft lip.  A few weeks later we returned to her village and found her healthy and happy with a brand-new smile!

"Seeing my daughter smile now just fills my heart with so much joy,” said her beaming father.
“After her surgery, it's like she's a whole new child.”

Her mother added that she has gained weight and looks “so adorable and healthy.”

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you Operation Blessing. You gave my daughter her smile,” she said to all the donors who made the operation possible.
