Christian Club Demands Apology for NASA's Ban on 'Jesus' in Newsletter
A Christian group says NASA banned the name of "Jesus" from a daily newsletter at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Like other groups, the JSC Praise and Worship Club puts announcements in the newsletter that is sent by email to all employees at the center.
Mike Fitzpatrick, president of the Praise and Worship Club at the Johnson Space Center, told CBN News the group wants an apology and its religious liberties restored. Click play to watch.
In May of last year, the club's insert included the phrase "Jesus is our life."
The Liberty Institute says NASA lawyers informed club leaders that the name "Jesus" is sectarian. They said including it in the agency's newsletter amounted to an unconstitutional endorsement of religion.
Liberty argued that banning the name of Jesus infringes on employees' freedom of religion.
Fox News reports a NASA statement says it does not prohibit the use of religious names in employee newsletters.
