Our Divine Inheritance
Have you ever received an inheritance? Perhaps it was money, or a family home, or a treasured possession. That bequeathed gift belongs to you. It is yours to possess, use, and enjoy.
Now what would you do if someone tried to take that inheritance from you? You would fight them, right? Because you are the rightful heir. It belongs to you and no one has the right to take it from you.
Consider our divine inheritance. When Jesus left this earth, did He leave anything for us?
In John 14:27 Jesus says, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (NLT)
The Amplified Bible puts it this way. “My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you.” (AMPC)
Has the enemy of your soul ever tried to steal your peace? Truthfully, he has no right to do that, but it is in his nature to steal.
So, we have to fight! If someone tried to take your rightful inheritance you would take them to court and declare, “This is rightfully mine!”
Do we do the same with our divine inheritance? When Satan tries to steal our peace, do we fight? Do we say, “No! You have no right to take this!”
If you don’t believe you have the right to a family inheritance, you won’t receive it and enjoy it. But it is your legal right to accept what is bequeathed to you.
You and I have been given peace to enjoy while we are on the earth. It is a peace that passes understanding and it is ours!
So friend, search your heart today. Is there something in your life causing you to feel troubled? Perhaps it is an unsaved loved one, a sick friend or a struggle in your marriage. Whatever it is, bring that concern to Jesus.
1 Peter 5:7 says, Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.
Let’s give all our concerns to Him today and live in the perfect peace that God has promised.
Let’s pray:
Lord, we thank You for the gifts You have given us. Salvation, healing, peace, and power were all purchased with Your precious blood. We want all that You provided for us through Your suffering and death. Help us to protect our divine inheritance and show us if we are allowing anything to be stolen from us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
