Jane Hamon on “Declarations for Breakthrough”
Making Declarations
The definition of declare means to make known while decree means to command or is an official statement that something must happen. Decrees have been used for thousands of years by governments to deliver judgements, laws and orders with the expectation that they will be carried out. A true prophetic declaration is Scripturally based and can be drawn upon for a specific time or event. In the Bible, Esther, Ezra and Daniel are all books about decrees being issued that changed the course of history.
When spoken aloud in agreement with the voice of God, declarations (straight from the Scriptures) will bring breakthrough (or change). “One word from God can change your family, your health, your finances, your business, your future, your atmosphere, your community and your nation,” shares Jane. One night she was ministering in California during one of the most severe droughts in history. She felt the Lord tell her to decree that the heavens would be opened and release the sound of abundance of rain. “So, I prophesied what I heard the Lord say, directed the people to shout for joy in response to the word of the Lord, and we pointed our fingers toward the sky while decreeing an abundance of rain,” recalls Jane. Fifteen minutes later she noticed some people began to whisper and got up to leave the service. Soon it became disruptive so she paused her message and asked what was going on. The people smiled and said, “It’s raining!” God shifted the atmosphere and brought an open heaven through the power of the decree.
Partnering with God
Jesus performed many miracles. He cast out demons and healed people of diseases. Jane says we too can walk in that same power and authority as human beings filled with God’s power. “When we set our hearts in agreement with what He says, regardless of how impossible it may seem, and speak it out of our own mouths, we become very powerful as well,” reveals Jane.
There is an important connection between what the heart believes and what the mouth speaks. The mouth activates what the heart believes. “As we open our mouths and declare the word of God audibly, our ability to believe what we say through faith begins to grow,” shares Jane. The voice of God is released into the atmosphere and surrounds our lives and circumstances when we read Scriptures and pray out loud. When we speak and declare His word, breakthrough happens. When Jane and her husband, Tom, moved to Florida, the area was trapped in a cycle of poverty despite being three miles from some of the most beautiful beaches. New businesses would open and close a short time later. People would build houses and lose them in foreclosure. Teams of people from their church would walk the streets praying and decreeing blessings and breakthrough for homes and businesses. During this time, it was discovered that this area was referred to as “Poor Man’s Island” in the record books. Years before curses had been put upon the land. Jane and Tom decided to write a decree for that area which they named the “Land of Blessings and Favor.” They would walk the streets uprooting the old decree of curses and poverty and plant God’s decree for their land. Years later, the area is one of the most prosperous counties in Florida.
Agreeing with the Voice of God
God can speak to you through dreams, visions and angelic visitations, His still, small voice or even through others. Rachel Hickson, a prophet from the U.K., spoke on the concept of the super bloom a couple of years ago. Super blooms occur in desert regions when dormant seeds blown by the wind end up in cracks and lie dormant for years. After some sort of agitation or crisis shakes or stirs the ground, the seed awakens and the super bloom occurs. Right before Jane heard this message, she had a dream in which God told her to declare a season of crazy increase (a season of super abundance). She felt this was confirmation of the times and season the Body of Christ was coming into. She heard the Lord say, “Expect the super blooms.”
During the COVID-19 2020 shutdown, Jane was concerned for the business owners in her church. Most of them do their business during the tourist season, but unfortunately due to the pandemic businesses were forced to be closed and tourists were banned from the area. Jane and her team prayed for crazy increase or a super abundance for these business owners. When the beaches and businesses opened back up, Jane began hearing reports that business owners were making twice the money they had made the previous year. They were landing new contracts and some were buying houses and paying off debt. Jane says, “As we hear the word of the Lord and begin to declare it, we are not only agreeing with the word but also waging spiritual warfare against any spiritual force trying to keep the word from coming to pass.”
