Worship Party at The Basement
CBN.com God is moving right here in Birmingham, Ala., at The Basement.
Matt Pitt: The ministry got started when we had a passion, I believe, to change the city, to see 90 percent of kids who are leaving church get back to church. Being relevant is really the tool and the key to what makes us so affective. You know, we want to compete with MTV. We want to compete with the radio. We want to compete with clubs and bars and sometimes in order to do that you’ve got to speak where people are.
Shevonne Johnson: My first experience with The Basement was pretty amazing, and I didn’t know what to expect, seeing that so many people were getting saved and delivered and set free from their addictions.
Casey Holland: I decided to go to The Basement when I was at rock bottom. I had been running from the call that God had on my life. I knew that God was real and I needed to get it right that night. I didn’t want to leave there without Him.
Laura Williams: Most churches I go to, it’s nothing like the worship at The Basement. Just - it’s on fire. It’s awesome. You walk in; you can feel God there.
Matt Pitt: Jesus said not only go and preach the Gospel, but to make disciples. We want to make sure that we’re not only presenting a message, but we’re following up and watching lives changed.
Michelle Holloway: The Basement is a way for younger people to really get involved and really get on fire for God.
Matt Pitt: Some of the ministries that we have, like the Refuge, is constantly trying to reach out to the homeless, to the hurt, to the abandoned, to the drug addicted and to the broken homes.
Connie Boulangger: Being part of this ministry has made me realize that it is changing people’s lives. It is giving them hope; because that is our main purpose, to give them hope through Christ.
Matt Pitt: Our vision for The Basement is that one day we can have a place where students and people of all ages can come any night of the week and worship. We want to glorify God in everything we do. We want to know Christ and make Him known throughout the world.
