Peter Forsythe: The Word that Warded off Surgery
CBN.com “I was doing the shuffle and not a normal walk. After about a block or so the pain would start on the left side and go to the right side."
Peter Forsythe had a serious circulation problem and needed immediate surgery.
“They were saying it was 60 percent was blocked in one leg and 80 percent in the other,” Peter recalls.
Then one day his wife Elizabeth saw a program that changed both their lives….
“Well I was watching The 700 Club, which I normally watch,” says Elizabeth.
“I’d been praying for Peter’s condition with his circulation. The Holy Spirit was saying yes, but if they say it on The 700 Club then you know it’s gonna be for real. So I kept watching, saying, ‘Okay God, is this supposed to be a test?’ I’m claiming this, and this is gonna be real.
“So I kept watching and kept watching and all of a sudden the show was almost over. I think Terry had finished praying and then all of a sudden Gordon [prays for someone with Peter’s condition].
“And I went, ‘That’s it! Yes Lord! I claim that for Peter! That’s it, I claim it! It’s his! Okay, where’s the pad of paper?’ So I ran and got it and I wrote it all down because he was sleeping. I put the note right where he had to find it.”
The next morning…
Peter says, “I was getting out of bed. I saw the note on the table. ‘Thank you, God!’ was the only thing that came to my mind. I stood up and walked proudly into the bathroom for the first time. Didn’t feel a thing. Had no problem, no wobble, no nothing. That’s what I’d lived with for quite a while.”
Peter and Elizabeth believed he was healed, but their doctor insisted that Peter go ahead with the operation as planned.
“I went in for the operation early in the morning,” says Peter. “They prepared me on the table, gave me a shot, went in, took a look came back out and the doctor said that there’s no problem. No problem.
“It was very real and it was exactly -- I mean exactly -- the way the word of knowledge came down. It progressed from the legs to the rest of the circulation throughout the body and then of course to the final statement which is a whole new person.
“Elizabeth as my witness and other people around me as my witness, I am not the person I once was, thank God. Now I wanna do His will and not my own, and that is going to make a big difference in our lives.”
