A Little Piece of Heaven

Children dance along to the Salvation Poem with Gizmo. In the heart of Costa Rica’s lush and remote region of Alto Palmera, a quiet transformation has been unfolding—one visit, one story, one child at a time. What began as a challenging mission to reach an indigenous community with a culture and belief system that is very different from our own has now become a testimony of God’s faithfulness and the power of his Word.

Since August 2024, Superlibro (Superbook) has partnered with Operation Blessing to bring the message of Jesus to the children of Alto Palmera, while their mothers participated in a micro-entrepreneurship project. At first, the community viewed the team as outsiders. Trust was hard-won. But through consistent visits, love, and the joyful storytelling of Superbook, hearts began to open.

The final visit oA young boy holds up a certificate declaring his faith in Jesus.f this mission marked a beautiful and emotional milestone. As the mothers celebrated their graduation, Superlibro hosted a graduation party for the children—complete with popcorn, cupcakes, balloons, games, and the beloved robot Gizmo. For many of the children, it was their first time tasting popcorn or seeing a character like Gizmo. Their laughter and wide-eyed wonder filled the air.

But the most powerful moment came not from the festivities, but from the faith that had taken root.

As one Superlibro team member shared, “At the end, a 5-year-old boy ran to the coordinator to ask for Jesus. In his simple language… he expressed his desire to have Jesus in his heart. Together we prayed with him and understood that yes, this seed will bear fruit.”

During the visit, the children watched the Superbook episode “Jesus, Friend of Sinners” and learned how they, too, could share his love with others. Each child received a certificate marking the day they accepted Jesus—a second birthday they will never forget.

Crafted with care and love, the PVC wall now displays the message of salvation in a place where children gather daily. It’s more than decoration—it’s a declaration that Jesus is real, that he saves, and that his love endures.

“We sawed the wood and placed this message so that these children would remember daily that although sin separates us from God, repentance and recognizing the sacrifice of Jesus always returns us to the Father,” one of the mural builders explained.

This mission may have reached its final visit, but its impact is eternal. The children of Alto Palmera now know the true and living God. They’ve laughed, learned, and most importantly, they’ve met Jesus. Alto Palmera is no longer just a place on the map… it is a little piece of heaven on earth.
