Health Premiums Skyrocketing Under Obamacare
12-31-1969
Premiums for insurance have been rising sharply, according to a new Morgan Stanley survey of 148 insurance brokers.
For individual insurance, the some of the most dramatic increases are as follows:
-Delaware at 100 percent.
-New Hampshire at 90 percent
-Indiana at 54 percent
-California at 53 percent in California
Morgan Stanley analysts say the increases are largely due to four changes from Obamacare: Commercial underwriting restrictions, age bands that don't allow insurers to vary premiums between young and old beneficiaries based on the actual costs of providing the coverage, new excise taxes being levied on insurance plans, and new benefit designs.
Forbes reports the latest increases come after previous hikes in 2013.
