A Miraculous Transformation

Isabel was born with a cleft lip. The three-year-old lives with her siblings and her mom, Reyna, who is a widow in a village in Honduras.

“People said, ‘She was born with an ugly lip, she will look even worse when she grows up,’” explained Reyna. “When my husband died, I looked at my daughter and thought, 'How am I going to do it? How am I going to pay for her surgery?'”

Reyna supports the family by washing and ironing clothes for her neighbors and friends. “Ever since she was a baby, I have been looking for help to pay for her operation,” said Reyna. “But I have not been able to find anyone.”

But it was what Isabel did in front of the mirror that broke Reyna’s heart. “She would hold her lips and try to connect them. She tried to stick them together where the cleft was. I heard her say, ‘Oh! This lip is so ugly.’ It was painful for me to watch when she did that. At night, I sat on the couch and thought, ‘God, why am I going through all this?’”

Isabel's sister, six-year-old Fernanda, decided to pray and ask the Lord for help. “I asked God to provide a way for Isabel to have her surgery. I want us all to be happy for her,” said Fernanda.

Operation Blessing arranged for and paid for Isabel to receive free surgery to repair the cleft lip. The operation was successful.

“I believe that God sent Operation Blessing as angels to help us,” said Reyna. “Thank you for all you did to help us.”

“Thank you, Operation Blessing, for operating on my little sister,” concluded Fernanda.
