Waiting for the House to Collapse

Ericka is a single mom. She’s been raising her two sons in Iquitos, Peru after her husband abandoned them.

Ericka explained, “My greatest challenge is to fix my house, so that my boys and I will be safe. We are afraid every time it rains. On those nights, we get wet and don’t sleep.”

Ericka’s son, Daniel, said he wonders how long before their house will collapse.

Daniel said, “When there is thunder and rain, our house moved. I got scared and told my mom that I don’t want the roof to fall on us.”

To earn money, Ericka and the boys make food to sell in their village. But her income hasn’t been enough to even make repairs on the house.

“I want to fix it, but every repair is just temporary,” Ericka said.

Then, thanks to you, Operation Blessing built them a new house with sturdy walls and a roof. We also gave them beds, furniture, and appliances for the kitchen.

Ericka said, “I am really happy with my new house and furniture. My children are now calm and sleep well in their own room.”

Daniel said, “I am happy because the winds and rain no longer scare me!”

Finally, thanks to you, we helped Ericka to grow her food business. We gave her new tools and food supplies to make more food faster.

Daniel explained, “I am happy because I can eat three times a day.”

Ericka said, “I thank God and the people who support Operation Blessing. Thank you so much for helping us with the house and the business. God bless you.”
