Superbook Helped Ray Discover His True Worth

In the lush, island nation of Indonesia, where vibrant culture and deep faith intertwine, 11-year-old Ray lives with his loving Christian parents. His family is actively involved in church, and they’ve always encouraged Ray’s spiritual growth. But behind his quiet demeanor was a boy struggling with deep insecurity.

Ray was born with a birth defect in his left eye—a condition that made him the target of cruel teasing from other children. “I used to be mocked, ‘Are you blind in one eye?’ It made me really sad,” Ray shares. The ridicule left him withdrawn and afraid to speak or sing in public, even in the safe space of his church.

Everything began to change when Ray started attending a Sunday school that uses Superbook Academy, a dynamic Sunday school curriculum created by CBN Animation based on their animated series. Through Superbook’s engaging episodes, Ray encountered the stories of the Bible in a way that was both fun and deeply meaningful.

One story stood out above the rest: “Roar!”—which tells the story of Daniel in the lion’s den. Watching Daniel’s unwavering faith in the face of danger, Ray saw a reflection of his own struggles. “I learned from the story of Daniel, who was courageous because he trusted in God. And God proved that he was always with Daniel. That made me believe that God is also always with me, even though I have my weaknesses! I believe that we are all precious in God's eyes.”

That truth transformed Ray.

From a shy, insecure child, Ray blossomed into a confident young leader. He now serves as a worship leader in his Sunday school, boldly stepping up to sing and speak in front of others. His love for Bible stories has grown, and Superbook continues to help him understand God’s Word in a way that speaks directly to his heart.

Ray’s story is a powerful reminder of the global impact of Superbook. In Indonesia, where faith is often lived out in close-knit communities, Superbook is helping children like Ray discover their identity in Christ—reminding them that they are seen, loved, and valued, no matter their circumstances.

You can help bring this hope to more children around the world.
