Building God’s Kingdom in Ukraine
In the town of Vasylkiv, nestled in the Kyiv region of Ukraine, a quiet but powerful movement is taking place—led by a woman named Olena and fueled by the life-changing stories of the Bible brought to life through Superbook Academy, known in Ukraine as Superbook Club.
Superbook Academy is an engaging Sunday school curriculum based on CBN Animation’s animated series, Superbook. The curriculum takes an episode of Superbook and teaches the Bible story from that episode over the course of three weeks. Each lesson is complete with games, crafts, songs, memory verses (called the SuperVerse), and lesson takeaways (called the SuperTruth).
Olena has known about Superbook for many years. She describes the program as “modern, engaging, and incredibly relevant for kids today.” So when her church began exploring ways to reach children with the Gospel, Olena knew exactly what to recommend. “We considered different options but eventually chose Superbook Academy—and we haven’t regretted it for a moment,” she says.
What started as a small gathering of 5–6 children has grown into a thriving Superbook Club with 20 regular members. After each special event, more children join. Following their Easter outreach, eight new children became part of the club. And during holidays, the numbers swell—this past Easter, 69 people attended, including parents and grandparents. “Everyone heard the message and really enjoyed it. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive,” Olena shares.
The club is more than just a weekly meeting—it’s a place where children encounter the love of Jesus, often for the first time. At a recent gathering, seven children visited for the first time and heard the Gospel. Olena Exclaimed, “They loved it and promised to come again!”
Olena’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. She began leading the club on her own, but now has a team of helpers who support the ministry. Her passion and perseverance are evident in every word she shares: “I want to thank everyone involved in this ministry… you are incredible. You feel the rhythm of life; you understand children and their needs so well. Thank you so much!”
Her message to others is clear and heartfelt:
“If you don’t yet have a Superbook Club in your town or village, I encourage you—don’t wait. Just start! God will send the right people to help you. He’ll guide you and provide everything you need—because this is his mission: to reach children with the Good News. And when children come, often their families follow. That’s how the Kingdom of God grows—right in your community.”
