Superbook Helps Children in Ukraine Grow in Faith and Friendship

In the heart of Zolotonosha, a city in Ukraine’s Cherkasy region, something beautiful happened one weekend in July. For the first time, a local church opened its doors to host a children’s day camp based on the “Disciples of Christ” program from CBN Animation’s Superbook. What unfolded was more than just a camp—it was a spiritual awakening, a celebration of community, and a glimpse of God’s love in action.

Each day, between 18 and 22 children arrived with curiosity and excitement. The mornings began with prayer and exercises, setting a joyful tone and helping the children start their day with purpose. Then came the heart of the program: Bible lessons inspired by Superbook episodes. Through animated stories and lively discussions, children explored deep spiritual values like love and forgiveness.

One of the most memorable moments came during a discussion about forgiving an offender. The children engaged in heartfelt verbal debates, wrestling with the idea of forgiveness and learning how Jesus calls us to respond with compassion. These conversations planted seeds of understanding and empathy—lessons that will stay with them for life.

To make the experience even more interactive, the children installed the Superbook Kids Bible App, which allowed them to explore biblical truths in a fun and engaging way. But perhaps the most transformative part of the camp was what didn’t involve screens at all.

The children spent time together without using their phones—a rare and refreshing change. They played group games in the park, visited museums, and even went on treasure hunts inside the church building. These shared experiences helped build new friendships, even among children who had never interacted before.

According to parents, the camp was a huge success. Despite being the church’s first time hosting such an event, the children felt so welcomed and loved that they didn’t want to leave in the evenings. One Superbook team member said:

“The children themselves felt [this church] to be like a real home.”

This camp became a turning point—not only in the spiritual upbringing of the children but also in forming a friendly, supportive community in Zolotonosha. In a time when many families are facing uncertainty and hardship, CBN Animation’s Superbook helped create a space where children could grow in faith, experience Jesus’s love, and build lasting relationships.
