Walking Tall: Triumphing Over Adversity
Growing up, Sangam wanted to run and play like the other children, but they teased him because he had a club foot. Sangam’s father explained, “When he tried to run, he always fell behind, and the other children laughed at him. This made him upset, so he decided to just stay home.”
Sangam’s mother said, “We tried home remedies and massaged Sangam's feet with oil, but nothing helped to straighten them.”
As he grew, Sangam's condition got worse. Sangam’s mother said, “He always wanted to wear shoes like the other children and asked his father to buy him some.” His father added, “I got two pairs of shoes for him, but he only puts one on, because his leg is twisted.”
His parents knew he needed surgery, but they couldn’t afford it. “He has asked us many times to take him to the doctor, so his leg can be fixed,” said his mother.
When Sangam's family heard about Operation Blessing, they reached out to us. And thanks to you, we were able to pay for Sangam’s surgery.
His father exclaimed, “His legs and feet are straight now!”
“He's really happy wearing his new sandals,” said his mother.
His father said, “And he's plays and runs around like he always wanted to.”
“No one makes fun of him anymore and he is doing well in school,” said his mother. “We're all happy to see him so happy.”
His father added, “We’re very thankful to everyone who helped us.”
