"I Learned Not to Give Up"

After his marriage fell apart, Ponchito’ s dad, Eduardo, grew concerned about his son’s behavior.

“When he was in kindergarten, he punched a classmate,” Eduardo told CBN. “He continued to act out at home and at school.  He did not want to study with me.” Ponchito then told us what life was like at his house before his parents separated.  “I could not sleep at night because they were screaming at each other and when I woke up, I saw them fighting.”

Now as a single parent with shared custody, Eduardo blamed himself for his son’s behavior.  “My life and my family were completed destroyed. I started to look for solutions, I wanted to fix my life too."  He said that led him to church.  “When I received Jesus into my heart, I was able to see my mistakes. I realized the problem was in me, not in him,” said Eduardo. “I noticed something was different. He did not scream at me anymore and was helping me a lot,” added Ponchito.

Because his dad had changed, Ponchito decided to go to church too.  There in a Sunday school class he learned about character from the Bible through CBN’s Superbook.  His teacher, Adriana, had been watching him.  “When Ponchito first arrived, he hardly talked, he did not pay attention, he even threw himself on the carpet. But then he started to participate,” she said. “I asked him, why do you like coming to church and he said, because I feel God is there. His favorite episode is the one about Jacob.”

“I like the [Superbook] episodes very much and that makes me happy. In one episode, Jacob made mistakes, but he changed,” Ponchito said.

As he continued to attend the Superbook classes Ponchito made a decision. “They asked me if I wanted to receive Jesus into my heart and I said yes!” He says now, with every Superbook episode he watches, he learns something new. “With the stories of Superbook I have learned not to give up. I used to feel very lonely, but now I know Jesus is with me. I am not alone anymore. Superbook teaches hope, love and fun!”
