Iven's Greatest Gift
In the bustling city of Kupang, Indonesia, 7-year-old Iven is the youngest of three siblings. His father works as a parking attendant in downtown Kupang, while his mother weaves cloth to support the family. His father usually returns home only on weekends, so every week Iven eagerly awaits his father’s arrival, often hoping for a small gift.
One weekend, however, Iven’s anticipation turned into deep disappointment when his father came home empty-handed. Overcome with anger and sadness, Iven threw his father’s belongings, feeling utterly let down and convinced that his father did not love him.
The following Sunday, Iven attended his church’s Sunday school, where he watched an episode of Superbook titled “The First Christmas,” which is called “The Greatest Gift” in Indonesia. Through this animated Bible story, Iven learned that the love of Jesus is far more precious than any material gift.
Inspired by this lesson, Iven asked for forgiveness from God and acknowledged Jesus as the most precious gift in his life. When he returned home from Sunday school, he immediately apologized to his father. With heartfelt sincerity, he expressed his regret and promised to be a good son who loves his family. Iven's words were simple yet profound: “The Lord Jesus is the most beautiful gift I have, and I want to always be a good child and love my family.”
