In the heart of Thailand, a young girl named Kanomphing faced a series of daunting challenges. Living with her grandmother, who battles health issues requiring dialysis every other day, Kanomphing's life was far from easy. Her parents were separated, and her mother showed little interest in her well-being. The family survived on a modest monthly allowance of 5,000 baht (about 147 USD) from her mother's older sister.
Last Christmas, Kanomphing's life took a transformative turn when she discovered Superbook. This animated series, which brings Bible stories to life, became a beacon of hope and inspiration for her. She began attending church regularly, finding solace and guidance in the stories of Chris and Joy, the main characters of Superbook.
"Superbook shows me what problems Chris [and] Joy faced and how Superbook helped them find answers that I can apply to my own life," Kanomphing shared. The impact of these stories was profound. Her Sunday school teacher led her in a prayer to welcome Jesus into her heart, a moment that filled her with warmth and a sense of belonging. “God is a friend who never abandons me… God helps us when we pray. No matter how difficult the situation is, God will help his people.”
Before encountering Superbook, Kanomphing often sought attention from her Sunday school teacher and was reluctant to help others. However, the lessons from Superbook sparked a remarkable change in her behavior. She began engaging more with her classmates and took on a nurturing role, especially towards the younger children. “I am a good sister to the younger children at church, who also don't have many friends to play with,” she affirmed.
