Superbook Brings Joy and Hope to Children in Wartime Ukraine
In a village, nestled in Ukraine’s Kyrovograd region, the echoes of laughter and joy rang out from the local stadium this past July. Over the course of a weekend, nearly 300 children gathered for a special event: Super Journeys with Gizmo—a children’s camp designed to bring light, love, and healing in the midst of war.
Among the attendees were children from internally displaced families, orphans from a local orphanage, and kids from low-income and socially vulnerable households. Despite the hardships they face daily, these children were welcomed into a safe, caring, and inspiring environment where they could simply be kids—singing, playing, making friends, and most importantly, learning about God’s love through CBN Animation’s Superbook.
Each day, the camp offered a rich program filled with games, music, and Superbook episodes that brought biblical truths to life. Through beloved characters and powerful stories, children discovered the Gospel in a way that was engaging and deeply personal. They learned about faith, courage, and the hope found in Jesus—truths that became anchors in the storm of uncertainty surrounding them.
One phrase echoed throughout the camp:
“This was the best day!”
For many of these children, it truly was. In a time of war and trauma, they found joy, connection, and spiritual encouragement.
A Place of Healing and Transformation
Inna, director of the local orphanage, shared how deeply impactful the camp was for the children in her care:
“[Our orphanage] is a private institution currently caring for about 40 children. Among them are orphans, as well as children deprived of parental care, children from occupied territories, and those who have found themselves in difficult life circumstances. These children have long been a part of the Superbook Club. We are very grateful to the Superbook Club for giving our children the opportunity to attend these sessions. Here, they learn more about God, receive true and righteous truths, and as a result, their lives are changing. This is extremely important for their development.”
She continued:
“An event like camp truly changes children’s lives. In this difficult time of war, when most of them are traumatized, they have the chance to get distracted, shift their focus, and learn important spiritual truths – that God is at work and that Jesus saves. This gives them a clear and just compass for life. I sincerely thank everyone who supports the Superbook project. This is a true ministry that changes the lives and destinies of children.”
