Brian William's Future with NBC Debated
12-31-1969
Media analysts are debating the future of NBC News Anchor Brian Williams after he took a leave of absence from the "Nightly News" program.
Williams' move comes after backlash over his admission that his story about being in a helicopter that came under fire in Iraq wasn't true.
Many analysts think Williams can survive, but some caution that many of his other statements are being scrutinized by fact-checkers to see if he embellished any other stories.
"NBC executives were warned a year ago that Williams was constantly inflating his biography sometimes to the point where it was a joke in the news division," Maureen Dowd, of the New York Times wrote.
