Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

–Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

This week, we’ve explored the freedom we have in Christ—freedom from sin, shame, and the weight of our old nature. But there’s more to this freedom. It’s not merely a gift to hold; it’s a call to action. In Christ, we are not only rescued; we are recruited.

Through Jesus’ sacrifice, we’ve been rescued from eternal separation from God, redeemed, and made new. As sons and daughters of God, we have a heavenly inheritance and the authority of Christ in us. But our freedom is not passive; it comes with a purpose.

Jesus makes this clear in Matthew 28, often called the Great Commission. After reminding His disciples that He holds all authority in heaven and on earth, He commands them—and us—to share the Gospel and make disciples of all nations. This isn’t just an invitation; it’s a charge to live out our faith actively and intentionally.

Discipleship isn’t limited to Sunday mornings or missionary trips to far-off lands. It’s woven into the fabric of our everyday lives. It means taking the message of hope and freedom into your workplace, home, neighborhood, and community. It’s being available and willing to share your faith through words and actions, showing others what it means to live a life transformed by Christ.

As we prepare our hearts for Easter, let’s reflect on this mission. The freedom Jesus purchased for us wasn’t meant to be hidden but shared. What would it look like to live every day as if you are on mission? To see each interaction as an opportunity to reflect Christ’s love and truth?

The world is full of people longing for the hope and freedom you carry. Let’s not let fear, complacency, or busyness keep us from answering this call. Instead, let’s step boldly into the mission field God has placed before us, whether it’s across the globe or across the street.

Take a moment today to ask God to show you how and where He’s calling you to live out your mission. Whether it’s sharing your story, inviting someone to church, or simply showing kindness, trust that He will guide and empower you every step of the way.

Your freedom was costly. Let’s live like it matters and make His name known.
