Reflection and Awe Lent Series - For the Broken

He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.”

Psalm 147:3

There’s no greater reminder that we live in a fallen, broken world than when we celebrate Easter. The crux of Easter is celebrating the resurrection of Christ. He left His throne in heaven to take on human flesh, serving as an appropriation for us. He died the death that we all deserve so that man could be reconciled to God.

Whether we know it or not, we are all experiencing brokenheartedness. We carry a God-shaped void in our hearts that can only be filled and healed through the blood of Jesus Christ.

As we experience the brokenness of the world, we are assured that the Father wants us to give Him our burdens. We are not meant to carry the weight alone; He walks with us every step of the way.

Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. –Psalm 55:22

As we rely on Him, we are transformed from the inside out. He takes the broken and makes us whole. What the enemy meant for evil, God turns to good (Genesis 50:20).

He does not leave us in our brokenness. God uses these trials to tell His story through our testimonies—using our pain for His good purpose (Jeremiah 29:11), and His power is made perfect in our weaknesses (2 Corinthians 12:9-10).

It's like the ancient Japanese art of kintsugi, in which broken pottery or glass is repaired and joined back together using gold. Instead of trying to cover the imperfections, the lines of breakage are celebrated as an opportunity to display the golden thread that now ties the parts together. The literal translation of kintsugi is golden joinery.

God is the master craftsman. He doesn’t discard the shattered pieces of our lives; instead, He tenderly gathers them, weaving His golden thread of redemption through every tear and flaw. This is the story of Easter—a Savior who transforms ashes into beauty, despair into hope, and brokenness into wholeness.

As we continue this Lent journey, remember why we reflect: to recognize the depth of His love and the power of His resurrection that restores us. Let this truth guide your heart today as you submit your brokenness to the One who makes all things new.

Keep walking through this journey of reflection and awe, knowing that God is transforming you, piece by piece, into a masterpiece of His love and grace.
