Helping You Recognize God's Anointing on Your Life

GOD’S ANOINTING

The body of Christ has been weakened because believers are not properly equipped. “The anointing of the Holy Spirit is desperately needed and necessary today,” shares Benny.

Churches and ministries have become almost ashamed of the anointing of the Holy Spirit and the gifts God brings. A shallow and powerless generation of believers has replaced those filled with the Holy Ghost power. The antidote for this oppressed generation is the anointing of God. 

TYPES OF ANOINTINGS 

After nearly forty years of powerful ministry, Benny went through the most painful season of his life. A season that lasted for three long years. His wife, Suzanne, suffered a personal crisis that reached back decades into her own life. God saw her and their family through it all. During this time Benny learned there are differences in the way God uses His anointing in our lives.

There are different anointings that flow through God’s people. “I didn’t realize it until I went through this extremely difficult time in my life,” shares Benny. He could minister under the anointing and the anointing upon his office was not affected at all, yet at home his personal life was struggling.

So, Benny began to search the scriptures. What he discovered was that the Lord said, “Out of your innermost being shall flow rivers.” Benny says it was necessary for him to go through this difficult time to discover there are many rivers to the anointing. Three types of anointings:

•    Abiding anointing – The abiding anointing is for everyday living and available to every believer. For example, spending time with God daily in His word, praying, waiting upon the Lord and worshipping Him. Benny shares, “It is an inner anointing that works from within you to deepen your fellowship with God.” It affects the spirit of a person. This anointing is for living, not doing. 

•    Empowering anointing – The empowering anointing is an outer anointing that affects the body and soul, but not the spirit. “It provides the ability to share the gospel with others, whether or not there is a call to a ministry office upon your life,” shares Benny. It is for service. It is for doing. Not every Christian receives this anointing since not every Christian chooses to serve. It is a gift.

Benny conducted the memorial service for Kathryn Kuhlman. He was only twenty-four and had never met her. When he was asked to do her service, Benny was scared and confused as to why he had been selected to do the service. On the stage he felt overwhelmed. The crowd was looking at him and all he wanted to do was run off the stage. Instead, he cried out, “Dear Jesus! I cannot do it! I cannot do it!” The Lord replied, “I’m glad! Now I will!” The Lord took over as Benny began ministering and the power of God descended mightily. People were healed. 

With this anointing, it is critical that a believer does not grow weak in his spiritual life because the Lord’s presence within him will diminish and the empowering anointing will crush him because there is nothing in him that supports it. Make time with God your highest priority. 

•    Dominion anointing – The dominion anointing is a very rare and powerful gift. Very few have this anointing. This anointing rested on individuals whom God used prophetically to raise up kingdoms or destroy them. Benny believes, “We are coming into the Elijah days again very soon. This anointing is the only anointing that will destroy the spirit of Jezebel, which is the spirit of witchcraft.” Some examples of people in the Bible who had this anointing include:
o    Moses –delivered the children of Israel and crushed the armies of Egypt.
o    Elijah – called down fire from heaven. The drought of three years ended in the famous showdown at Mt. Carmel, when Elijah destroyed the prophets of Baal.
o    Elisha – he caught Elijah’s cloak as he was taken up into heaven. The anointing on Elijah then rested on Elisha for all the days of his life. When a dead man’s corpse was thrown on Elisha’s bones, the dead man was resurrected and stood on his feet because there was still sufficient power in the dead prophet’s bones. 

WEAKENING THE ANOINTING

There are some ways that you can weaken the empowering anointing on your life: (1) Entertaining the demonic. When you allow books or TV shows in your home that are demonic in nature you cannot be used by God. (2) Be careful of the flesh - who you talk to, what you look at and listen to before you minister because ungodly influence can weaken the anointing. (3) Be careful of controlling spirits. Don’t replace the voice of the Holy Spirit with another person’s voice. (4) Protect yourself from people who want to pray for you and lay hands on you because the anointing can weaken. Benny is careful to not let anyone he doesn’t know lay hands on him. 

END TIMES 

Benny indicates that although we live in perilous times we do have hope because we have prayer. The key to survival is prayer. Jesus gave us the most powerful keys to survival in Scripture’s most famous prayer – The Lord’s Prayer. All you need to live a victorious life marked by God’s anointing is listed below:
o    Develop a relationship with God the Father.
o    Recognize that you are a citizen of heaven. Set your affections on things above.
o    Build your worship, adoration for God.
o    Put God’s interests above your own. Don’t allow demonic influences or worldly connections.
o    Know His word. 
o    Make petitions after you know His mind and His will.
o    After making your requests known then you forgive to receive answer to your requests.
o    Deliverance means don’t do it again. 
o    Resist the devil’s schemes.
