“Feed Her First…”

Summer is a single mom with two daughters, Piper and Makenzie.

“A year ago, we had a house fire, and we're still building ourselves back up. It's crazy, especially with groceries; they've gotten way more expensive. Rent has gotten way more expensive. Just having to move from the fire, our rent’s gone up, like $400,” said Summer.

For Summer, making decisions about what bills to pay and what food to buy has become a regular challenge.

"My girls, especially my eight-year-old, she's to the point, she was home when the fire happened," Summer said, her voice breaking as she began to cry. "So, she's like… she understands things now, so she's just like, ‘Oh, well make sure Piper eats first, I’ll eat noodles.’"

That’s when she turned to the food pantry at Good News Baptist Church in Virginia, a ministry supported by Operation Blessing.  Each month she’s able to pick up essential groceries and supplies to give her family the extra help they need.

“It’ll help us save money to be able to buy other food for our home,” Summer said.

Thanks to you, Summer’s family—and so many others—are receiving the food they need to move forward with hope.

With tears streaming down her face, Summer said, "Thank you guys. Y'all help so many people. There's a lot of people that need the help."
