Jesus Is Still Our Healer
For as long as he could remember, ten-year-old Angpao has struggled with congestion that blocked his nose and ears.
“I took medicine, but I always had a stuffy nose and water in my ears. It was painful, too,” he told us. “At school, I couldn’t hear the teacher clearly, so my grades were bad. My friends had to shout at me to hear them.”
A hearing test confirmed that Angpao had significant hearing loss because of fluid in his middle ears. His doctor recommended surgery to fix the problem.
Angpao’s mother, Ganinnan, was distraught. “I didn’t want my son to be in pain and unable to hear, We prayed to Buddha to heal him and offered alms at temples. But nothing worked.”
Then Angpao learned about an event featuring the CBN Superbook episode, “The First Christmas.” He asked his parents to take him.
Angpao’s father, Danukorn, told his son, “Yes,” and they went as a family. “When I watched the Superbook story, I felt God’s love for us. Other gods demand worship and offerings and give us nothing.”
At the end of the Superbook program, the entire family prayed to become Christians!
“I used to think that if I sinned and then died, I would become an evil spirit,” Angpao admitted. “But Superbook taught me that when we confess our sins, God forgives us. So, I prayed and asked Jesus to be my Savior.”
The family began going to church every week. Angpao’s parents also joined their son to watch other Superbook episodes, including “The Miracles of Jesus.”
“I saw Jesus calm storms, heal the sick, and make a lame man walk. I was confident that He could heal me, too!” Angpao exclaimed.
“When we got home, we prayed that God would heal our son so that he could hear clearly again,” Ganinnan explained.
The day that Angpao was supposed to undergo surgery on his ears, his doctor did another hearing test.
“The doctor was amazed! She said my son didn’t need surgery anymore and wondered how he had recovered from his hearing loss. God answered our prayers!” Ganinnan told us, brimming with joy.
“I was so excited that I jumped around the hospital!” Angpao squealed. “My dad then bought me food that used to cause severe allergies. I was able to eat it because Jesus healed me!
Angpao is now doing well in school. And his parents are training to become Sunday School teachers.
“My wife and I have been deeply touched by the love of God through the Superbook stories,” Danukorn told us. “So now we want to teach children about God through Superbook.
“I want everyone to know that God hears our prayers and performs miracles to help us!” Angpao said sincerely. “Thank you for sharing Superbook with us!”
