From Debt to Doubled Income
"We had a new car we had to buy, we had house payments to make, and we were coming up short," says Lindsay Riddle.
No, this is not an ad for a second mortgage, although, at the time, Im sure the Riddles thought they could use one.
Lindsay and Randy Riddle make their home in Americas heartland in the great state of Indiana. With two beautiful daughters and two dogs, like many American families, they wanted to build the American dream. But they ran into their debt crisis.
"When our second daughter was born," says Lindsay, "we had health insurance, but it wouldnt pick up the maternity bills, so we had at least $10,000 worth of debt there."
Then, through watching The 700 Club, the Riddles learned a critical, life-changing principle called the Law of Reciprocity: Give and it shall be given to you.
"Everything that Pat teaches comes from the Bible, of course, but if you just simply apply them, it works," says Lindsay. "Try God. Test Him, and He is good. If you give God your money, He will never let you go hungry. He will always supply your needs. He gives you your paycheck. Everything comes from God, and He only asks for 10 percent of it."
Based on what Pat was teaching, the Riddles decided to give to otherseven while they were in need. God was about to change a financial disaster into a financial blessing.
"Right about that time is when I decided to step up to the 1000 Club member," Lindsay says. "I just said, 'OK, were going to do this in faith.' Soon after that, my husband received an annuity check for $20,000 that came early. That was pretty much spent with the bills."
But God was not finished blessing them. Randy is a trucker. Both he and Lindsay believe that as theyve given to others, theyve seen their income double.
"I work for Metzger and Sons trucking," says Randy. "The way things are now, being a truck driver, things slowing down so much, it seems like companies are going broke everywhere you look, but ours is going like gangbusters. Were picking up new contracts everywhere you look, and I end up with a pretty good paycheck every week where a lot of guys are going broke."
Since applying biblical principles, The Riddles now have their finances under control.
Says Lindsay, "We dont come up short to pay any bills. We dont bounce any checks. We have more than enough, and we have enough to be able to help others now, too, when they need it."
Today, as they continue to build for the future, the Riddles say you just cant out-give God.
"Its such a joy that Randy and I, now that we give, are 1000 Club members," Lindsay says. "I cant leave my husband and my children and go spread the Word and go to foreign countries and give them shelter and medical care, but CBN can, and thats very important."
