Oscar Rodriguez grew up poor in a small village in Honduras. At seven, after his father died, his mother placed him with another family to have a better life. Even in the midst of these struggles, Oscar held onto a dream God gave him at 13 to one day study in America.

Oscar recalls, “That dream changed me forever from hopelessness to hope and faith in a God I did not know before.”

Not long after he graduated from college, he married Margie, and they had four children. In 1992, Oscar dreams were realized when he received a scholarship to study engineering in the U.S.

Oscar shares, “I was eternally thankful. And it was a breakthrough in my faith, knowing that God has opened a door, that He will prepare a future for ourselves or family.”

After completing his degree, he returned to Honduras and started a successful tech business. Even after a hurricane devastated the economy and their income dropped, they continued giving. Margie remembers how God blessed their faithfulness.

Margie shares, “And then the Lord had blessed us in many ways that He always open doors opportunities.”

Soon after, Oscar received his largest contract by the government to train students in Honduras in cutting-edge technology.

Oscar remembers, “We paid all of our employees and our obligations as a consequence of that large contract.”

After 1 year, Oscar was invited to the U.S. to teach automation robotics. He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees and was offered a prestigious role at West Point.

Oscar shares, “What a place of excellence, of service and of sacrifice for our very own communities.”

In 2008, they became faithful CBN partners, drawn to its mission to spread the gospel.

Margie says, “] I want to be a part of something big that extend beyond what I can do by myself. All those needs around us and then by myself, I can’t do it. But through CBN we can do it.”

Oscar shares, “CBN is the most complete ministry we've ever have partnered with so many areas, to be able to impact every area of society. The Orphan Promise program, Terry Meeuwsen and how she ministers to the orphan and the needy. I was an orphan and I needed that help. Someone came to my rescue and led me to who I am today.”

Today, Oscar is the head of engineering technologies at Oklahoma State University and Margie is a teacher’s assistant. They are CBN founders, knowing God honors their faithfulness.

Oscar says, “I can barely talk when I think about God's children and many of this without hope and knowing myself that the hope of Christ is what we all need. What has happened with my life is not short of miracles all the way. CBN is a wonderful organization born in the heart of God. I consider that an honor and privilege to be a part of what CBN is doing.”

Psalm 41:1 says, “Blessed is he who considers the poor; the LORD will deliver Him in time of trouble.” When you partner with CBN, you do more than just give to the poor.
