Widow Can Feed Her Family Because of Your Love
Asha Lopchan is a widow who lives in Nepal with her three children. Asha explained, “My husband passed away in a road accident. After my husband’s death, I worked in others’ fields and raised my children on my own. It was very difficult for me to educate, feed, and provide for the basic needs of my children.”
Asha’s children stopped going to school. She sank into depression and started drinking. “I sat at home and cried about how poor we were,” said Asha. “Sometimes, I walked to a nearby cliff and thought about suicide.”
Then Asha heard about Orphan’s Promise’s “Keeping Families Together” program. She reached out to us. We gave Asha five goats, so she could start a small business.
“That wasn’t all,” said Asha. “In addition to the goats, you gave us food, and you gave my children school uniforms and supplies. I had the privilege to attend many training sessions that helped me start a business. You taught me how to be a better mother and guided me on my way. I stopped drinking, and thanks to you, now, I can feed and take care of my children.”
Asha and her children’s lives have been transformed. Asha said, “I get a good income from breeding and selling these goats. This project has changed our lives beautifully. My children are back to school. I am so grateful for everyone who helped."
